Heart attack
is mainly considered to be a man’s ailment but the truth is that heart disease
kills more women than men each year. It is a heart disease which leads to the
occurrence of a cardiac arrest or heart attack. The best way to deal with
cardiac emergencies is by going for a CPR Training Nashville program. In the classes, students will get to learn
about the life-saving resuscitation techniques which comprise of chest
compressions and rescue breaths. Proper application of the techniques can
revive the life of a victim involved in the middle of a cardiac emergency.
Always
choose an accredited training center for acquiring the best form of training.
If you are a resident of the Nashville region in Tennessee, you can enroll for
a program at the AHA accredited CPR Nashville where certified instructors
conduct the classes through a series of audio and video lectures and hands-on
practice.
Let us get
back to our discussion on women and heart attacks.
Like we have
already mentioned that heart attack or heart disease is considered a man’s
disease which makes most doctors brush aside women’s symptoms until it’s too
late.
There may be
a reason why so many women suffer from heart disease, read on:
·
As
per a study, lack of sleep may be a catalyst for female heart attacks and more
often than not women short themselves of sleep in order to care for their
families. The study found that women who get less than 5 hours of sleep per
night had unusually high amounts of protein in their blood, out of those
proteins, hs-CRP, or C - reactive protein, is the leading indicator of pending
heart attack.
·
Heart
attack is a serious disease which is associated with high blood levels of CRP but
people with high CRP levels are four and a half times more susceptible to have
a heart attack than those with normal levels. Moreover, they are a more
reliable indicator than either cholesterol or homocysteine in predicting the
risk of a heart attack.
·
The
other diseases associated with high CRP levels are obesity, dental disease,
Alzheimer’s, blood sugar disorders, cancer and viral disease.
The
interesting part in all of this is that lack of sleep did not cause the same
CRP rise in men. High CRP levels can mainly be attributed to inflammation in
the body which again can be a reaction to an infection, toxins, burns, or
injury. It is only as per the recent studies which show that it is a reaction
to sleep deprivation in women. Knowing that more and more women are generally
sleep-deprived which can be attributed to the demands of both work and family,
it is no wonder that more women are dying from heart disease than men.
To all the
women who always have a tendency to stay up an extra hour to get the kitchen
cleaned or making sure everyone in the family has fresh cookies for their lunch
the next day, do not do that. Ask your family members to shoulder some of the
responsibility and you go and get adequate sleep which will significantly
reduce your chances of getting a heart attack or a cardiac arrest.
